Praktijk Chiropractie Stegeman has been located at Zwolsestraat 197 in The Hague since 1987. Chiropractor Erik Stegeman started the practice. He sold it in 2019 to Kai Holm and retired in May 2025. Since 1987 we have treated over 24,000 people from home and abroad. We are there for everyone, from babies to the elderly. Quality and personal attention are central to our practice. This is reflected, among other things, in the breadth of care we provide and the personal attention during each treatment. Unlike many other practices, where a follow-up treatment takes a maximum of 5 to 7 minutes, we consciously choose to really take the time to discuss with you how things are going and tailor our treatment to the situation. For instance, we often complement chiropractic corrections with trigger point therapy, traction, massage, advice or at-home exercises.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that one does not need a referral for chiropractic treatment, our team of chiropractors frequently and intensively collaborates with physiotherapists, manual therapists, podiatrists, remedial therapists, osteopaths, midwives, general practitioners and specialists (paediatricians, orthopaedists, neurologists, pain clinic specialists). Our chiropractors also treat many pregnant women, babies and children.<\/p>\n

We consider it of great importance to keep abreast of the latest developments in our field and adjacent specialisms. Therefore, we give high priority to continuing education so that we can guarantee a permanently high level of treatment.<\/p>\n

Kai V. Holm D.C.<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Born and raised in northern Germany, Kai Verena Holm trained as a ‘Doctor of Chiropractic’ at Life University – School of Chiropractic<\/a><\/em> in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From an early age, Kai wanted to help people in the field of health. Through her mother’s chiropractor, Kai discovered the way to do this. It inspired her to go to America to train as a chiropractor in 1992, just three days after graduating from high school.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After graduating cum laude there, Kai worked for a few years in a busy chiropractic practice in southern Germany. In 2000, she moved to the Netherlands and started working at Praktijk Chiropractie Stegeman. As of 1 February 2019, exactly 19 years later, Kai took over the practice from Erik Stegeman.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kai’s passion in her work focuses not only on keeping the spine functioning optimally, but in particular on positively influencing the overall health and lifestyle of her patients.<\/p>\n

Mari\u00ebt Twigt D.C.<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Mari\u00ebt Twigt grew up in Voorschoten. Her mission as a chiropractor is to contribute to well-being and quality of life of her patients.<\/p>\n

During a surfing holiday, she injured her back. A chiropractor helped her be complaint-free again. This experience inspired her and she made the switch from studying physiotherapy to chiropractic.<\/p>\n

She graduated cum laude on the Master Chiropractic degree at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gina Petzer D.C.<\/h3>\n

Gina Petzer was born and raised in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. She studied at Durban University of Technology<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and obtained her Masters in Chiropractic in 2016. She then worked in a family practice in Cape Town for five years. Together with her husband Justin, who is also a chiropractor, she moved to the Netherlands in 2021.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gina is particularly passionate about treating pregnant women and newborn babies, as well as children, teenagers and adults.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Movement is indispensable for a healthy body, according to Gina, so count on getting some movement homework after your treatment with Gina. She is also very active in her personal life. She is a certified yoga instructor, loves long walks and looks forward to exploring our country while walking and cycling.<\/p>\n

Sjoerd Crooijmans D.C.<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Sjoerd graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC), where he completed the five-year full-time training to become a chiropractor.<\/p>\n

What appeals to him about the profession is understanding complaints: where do they come from, what is the impact on a person’s life, and most importantly, what is possible to work on recovery together? He values personal attention, clear communication and an honest open approach.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With a bachelor’s degree in Dutch language and culture from Leiden University, Sjoerd knows how powerful language can be. He uses this knowledge to explain things clearly, without using complicated terms. Patients need to feel understood and know where they stand.<\/p>\n

In his spare time he likes to play golf, tennis and run. He can also be found on his racing bike and immersed in music. He looks forward to welcoming patients to Chiropractic Stegeman.<\/p>\n

Erik Stegeman D.C.<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In 1987 Erik started this practice.
\nAfter studying physiotherapy, he completed the training in sports physiotherapy and manual therapy. He treated many (top) athletes in the first Dutch Sports Medical Advice Centre (SMA) for five years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Before starting his own practice he specialised in treating spinal complaints and went to study chiropractic at the AECC<\/em><\/a> in Bournemouth – England.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Besides working in his own practice, he became a permanent chiropractor with the Nederlands Dans Theater and a medical supervisor on this dance company’s international tours. Besides regular patients, Erik also treated artists and employees of other theatre companies, orchestras and conservatoires.<\/p>\n
